The Yoga Room
...discover the power within.

TammyMy name is Tammy Brahan, and I am the founder of The Yoga Room. Over the last 7 years, I have fully dedicated my time and energy to the study and practice of yoga to educate our community on the benefits of a yoga practice and to provide a setting that supports holistic health and healing. My philosophy of teaching is to look for the good in others. All levels of ability and yoga experience are honored for their unique differences, limitations and talents. It is my hope that all students will recognize and celebrate their innate goodness, and supreme nature and will leave each class feeling empowered, energized, and with a new-found respect for their bodies and spirits. At our beautiful studio, we hope you will feel welcome and become a part of our growing yoga community.

Namasté,
Tammy

ABOUT OUR TEACHERS
______________________

Tammy Brahan is a Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance and a member of The International Association of Yoga Therapists. She also has a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Nursing, as well as 21 years of experience as a fitness instructor. Tammy began a private yoga practice in January 2001, as a cross training method and a means to  recover from athletic injuries. She quickly discovered a passion for the life transforming benefits of yoga and a strong desire to learn more about this ancient system. Since then, she has trained with renowned master yoga teachers Baron Baptiste, Seane Corn, Doug Swenson, Beryl Bender Birch, Jonny Kest, Paul Grilley,  Ana Forrest, Patricia Walden, Maty Ezraty, and Barbara Benaugh.

Presently, she is continuing her studies in the heart-oriented style of Anusara Yoga and is designated as an "Anusara-inspired" yoga teacher. She has trained with Desiree Rumbaugh, Doug Kellar, Raye Lynn Rath, Martin and Jordan Kirk , Jordan Bloom and the founder of Anusara Yoga, John Friend. Tammy's teaching style is an eclectic blend of many styles, yet, all of her classes emphasize the Universal Principles of Alignment unique to this style of yoga. Anusara Yoga is considered to be one of the most spiritually uplifting, and therapeuticlly effective styles of Hatha Yoga in the world today.

Last year in Cincinnatti, Tammy completed a Yoga Therapy Teacher Training with John. This training focused on the  diagnostics and treatment of specific injuries to the neck, shoulders, lower back, hips, knees and feet. She incorporates this valuable information in each and every class that she teaches.

Tammy is a mother of two,  an avid runner, and plays tennis competitively. She has experienced first-hand the strength and focus that yoga has brought to these and other areas of her personal life. In addition to her classes at the studio, Tammy has affiliated with Pine Grove Behavioral Health Women's Center, Gentle Path, and the Professional Enhancement Program to provide yoga classes for patients being treated for eating disorders, chemical dependency and other addictive behaviors. As a teacher, she approaches her classes with enthusiasm, compassion and respect for the individual.  She encourages her students to embrace the practice of yoga as much more than a physical form of exercise. It is a means to open the heart, to listen to the inner voice, and ..... to discover the power within.

Yoga has become the foundation from which I am rebuilding my life. In the past, I have been a stressed out, working mother of two who has felt that her life was about getting through one day in order to get on to the next. Through a regular yoga practice, I have discovered that the cycle I was in was destructive, and I now try to focus on each day for what it is - a blessing and a gift. I am now, with the help of Anusara, listening to my heart and making decisions that are positive and reaffirming. I wish for all yoga practitioners the ability to manage the inevitable stress of life while finding joy in every day.

Peace,
Holly

Yoga has been a constant in my life for over 7 years. It's something that I have kept up with consistently. It challenges me and keeps my attention. It has been the defining factor in my personal transformation. When I began my yoga practice, I was completely out of shape. It was hard for me to just stand in Mountain Pose, standing with good posture, because my body was so out of alignment. I suffered from chronic back pain, as well. My yoga practice slowly evolved. I became more balanced both mentally and physically.

Yoga has been the catalyst for change in my life during the past several years. It has helped me to become strong of mind and body. I've learned to focus my mind and to better deal with the stresses of everyday life.

Namasté
