Class Descriptions

 

Serenity Yoga - this class is designed to release stress and center awareness through gentle postures and relaxation exercises. Some strength building postures will be incorporated. Recommended for those seeking a gentle practice to create balance in the body, mind and spirit.

 

Vinyasa Yoga- integrates rythmic breathing with conscious movement. As a westernized version of Ashtanga Yoga, this class is designed to increase strength, flexibility, balance, focus and concentration by means of a challenging physical workout. 

 

Anusara-inspired all levels - Emphasizing the Universal Principles of alignment as created by John Friend...these classes focus on the physical alignment of the body while weaving a heart theme into each class...encouraging the student to align her intentions with the Divine flow of Grace....body, mind and heart....all the basics are taught to build a very strong foundation for your practice.

 

Level 2 - 3 - once the student understands the basic alignment principles of Anusara Yoga, this class will take your practice to the next level....practicing more advanced variations of standing poses, spinal twists, balancing postures, hip openers, and inversions.

 

Restorative Yoga - using props, such as blankets, blocks and bolsters to support the body, this class is designed to bring the student into a deeper sense of relaxation and surrender. The combination of holding the poses for several minutes and breathwork enable the student to rest quietly in the present moment for total rejuvenation. Pranayama and Meditation are also practiced.

 

Hot Vinyasa Yoga - this intermediate level class focuses on the beautiful and infinite interplay of the breath and the body to "ignite" and invigorate. In a heated room, Hot Vinyasa Yoga uses a rotating curriculum of challenging sequences at various rhythms and tempos to build strength, confidence and endurance. Recommended for those seeking a physical workout, and a means to create balance and vitality within the whole self.

 

Yoga for Kids - The focus in this class is to enjoy yoga through play, in a non-competitive, yet athletic way. Students will practice breathing techniques, poses, games, activities, relaxation, and visualization. Yoga for Kids can instill positive traits such as confidence, compassion, respect, tolerance, patience, and non-violence. It will also develop body awareness, self-control, flexibility, and coordination. Yoga teaches children the meaning of union of mind, body, and spirit.

 

Private Yoga Sessions - available by appointment. Recommended for beginners who seek a detailed introduction to the practice of yoga, students with special needs, and experienced students who seek to refine their practice. Recommended for  athletes who, from muscular imbalance and overuse, have injuries or limitations in the areas of the neck, shoulders, lower back, hips, knees and feet. I also offer private yoga therapy sessions for students suffering from various symptoms of anxiety, depression, chronic Pain, or are in recovery from addiction.

 

Yoga/Pilates Fusion - a blend of heat-building yoga flow and strengthening postures with Pilates mat exercises to strengthen the core, including abs, back, inner and outer thighs. For any level yoga student who wants to try something new!
